Body Mass Index

Body Mass Index is defined as the individual's body weight divided by the square of his or her height. It is used to get a rough estimate to see if you are underweight, healthy, overweight or obese.   I like to have a starting point to track my progress.

BMI < 18.5 - = underweight
BMI 18.5-25 = healthy weight
BMI 25-30 = overweight
BMI > 30+ = obese
