The government has gotten rid of the confusing "food pyramid" that we learned about in high school and has made a much easier explanation of appropriate food portions.

It is important to know the difference in a complex carbohydrate and a simple carbohydrate and to know what proteins are best to eat. For those of you that are starting out on your journey, this is a great tool. I highly recommend it as it is balanced and backed by science, unlike many fad diets out there.
